High Voltage Safety and Switch Gear course- Operational level (HVSSG-O)

  • High Voltage systems and it’s applications aboard a ship,
  • Safety features and functionalities of High Voltage Switch Gear.
  • Safety measures and use of personal protective device when working with high voltage systems.
  • An operational Level Engineer officer who has undergone Pre-Sea Training as per the requirements of STCW 2010.
  • Photocopy of CDC (with sailing experience)
  • Photocopy of COC (If held)

  • Photocopy of Medical Certificate with validity from a DGS approved center

Basic Stcw Safety Training (BST) {EFA+PST+FPFF+ PSSR}

  • The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), requires that seafarers be provided with “familiarization training” and “basic safety training” which includes basic fire fighting, elementary first aid, personal survival techniques, and personal safety and social responsibility.This training is intended to ensure that seafarers are aware of the hazards of working on a vessel and can respond appropriately in an emergency.

    Basic Safety Training STCW course includes the following courses:

    • Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR)Will gain knowledge and skills of Safe working practices, precautions to prevent pollution of marine environment, comply with emergency procedure, and contribute to effective human relationships and understanding the cause of fatigue.
    • Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (FPFF)Will gain knowledge and skills to understand and minimise the risk of fire, personal safety requirement in using fire fighting equipment.
    • Elementary First Aid (EFA)Will gain knowledge on how to apply elementary first aid techniques and understands what to do in case of any medical emergency.
    • Personal Survival Techniques (PST)Will gain knowledge on the survival equipment used, principles of survival, understands how to abandon ship, how to survive in water and how to use survival craft during a maritime emergency.
  • Aspiring seafarers should possess

    • Secondary school certificate (Passed Xth Mark sheet / Leaving)
    • Original valid passport (Authority page, photograph page & address page).
    • Has to be Medically fit as per the standards set by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000.

      Age criteria: Min. 18 Years

  • 2 Passport size colour Photographs
  • Medically fit certificate (Annex IV & V) from DG approved Doctor

Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (STSDSD)

    • Uphold the situations set out in the field of the security plan of the ship.
    • Classifying the risks and threats associated with the ship,
    • Undertaking the regular security related inspections of the ship,
    • Using and handling the security systems and equipment.
  • Aspiring seafarers should 

    • Be minimum 18 years of age.
    • Possess original Secondary School Certificate (Passed Xth Mark sheet / Leaving)
    • Possess original valid passport.
    • Be Medically fit as per the standards set by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000.
  • Original & Photocopy of Xth Mark Sheet
  • Original & Photocopy of Valid Passport
  • 2 Passport size colour Photographs
  • Medically fit certificate (Annex IV & V) from DG approved Doctor

    • Measures for Pollution prevention.

All seafarers who have completed STCW Basic Safety Training are eligible.

Basic Training for Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations (LGTCO)

Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations (LGTCO) is a familiarization training program covering the general principles and characteristics of liquefied gas tanker, Basic knowledge of engineering systems for cargo, Occupational Health ans Safety, Prevention of pollution to marine environment due to cargo, Knowledge of the hazards associated with liquefied gas tanker cargo operations, response to liqufied gas tanker mergencies and basic knowledge on IMO code and conventions.

This is designed to provide training for officers and ratings assigned for specific duties and responsibilities relating to cargo or cargo equipment on Liquefied Gas tankers.

Will gain knowledge on

  • Safe operation of Liquefied Gas tanker,
  • Hazards & their control measures,
  • Safety precautions & measures,
  • Measures for Pollution prevention.

All seafarers who have completed STCW Basic Safety Training are eligible.

RPST program is to update the training certification and to maintain the required standard of competency found in Personal Survival Techniques.

All seafarers who have completed an approved PST course are eligible.

 
  • Photocopy of an approved PST certificate (Mandatory)
  • Photocopy of CDC (if held)
  • Photocopy of Valid Passport
  • Photocopy of Medical Certificate with validity from a DGS approved center
  • 2 Passport size colour Photographs
  • 100% attendance is required for successful completion of the course.

RFPFF program is to update the training certification and to maintain the required standard of competency found in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting

All seafarers who have completed an approved Basic FPFF course are eligible.

  • Photocopy of Valid Passport
  • Photocopy of Medical Certificate with validity from a DGS approved center

Vertical Integration Course for Trainers (VICT)

This course is designed to individuals who are to qualify as Trainers and Assessors for conduct of Courses approved by the Directorate General of Shipping.

This course provides you knowledge on

  • Developing strategies for training, assessment and the concepts around competency-based assessment.
  • Planning and conducting assessment process for seafarers.
  • The effectiveness of lecture delivery with practical training aids.

Methodologies that can be implemented to enhance the quality standards of training and assessing seafarers.

The Principal, Vice principal, Faculty (Permanent & Visiting), Instructors of a maritime training institute approved by DG Shipping.
